It is commonly used for high ankle sprains, as it is composed of a plastic shell within the boot structure which forms a cuff around the tibia and fibula. The plastic shell contains a hinge so that the foot is not restricted, allowing for compliant movement of the foot. The shell is anatomically contoured for a comfortable experience for the wearer.
